Abstrakt: The key to understanding the theological thought of Joseph Ratzinger/ Benedict XVI is Jesus Christ. The future pope built his dogmatic and fundamental theology discourse around the Son of God. His focus on Christ is also noticeable in his reflection on Christian prayer. Therefore, this dissertation is opened by the Prologue which presents the results of studies and formulates the key to hermeneutic interpretation of Ratzinger’s theology of prayer and at the same time the key to this dissertation. It introduces how Christology of prayer stems from spiritual Christology. Christology is born from Jesus’s prayer. His prayer is the source of Christian prayer, it is the fruit of Jesus’s whole life, his Incarnation and Passover; prayer is based on experiencing the process of adopting the attitude of the Son of God. (...) The final part of the dissertation summarizes the findings and concludes that there is a consistent theology of prayer present in the multitude of Joseph Ratzinger’s/ Benedict XVI writings.
